Cabinet Decision: Municipal elections will not be held Con party basis

Ranchi: In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren 42 resolutions were passed. Among the important ones include that there will be no party-based elections in the municipal area. The Urban Development Department has approved its manual. Along with this, the way for conducting elections in 14 municipal bodies has been also cleared. The election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor will now be held on an independent basis in the state. The election of the mayor will be independent.

At the same time, the Deputy Mayor will be elected from among the councilors. However, due to the Mandar bye-election, official information about the decision of the cabinet was not given. An order has been given to get the ACB investigation on the former chief engineer of the Road Construction Department, Ras Bihari Singh. He is accused of disproportionate assets.

The amendment to the Police Appointment Rules was passed in the cabinet. First, there will be a physical and then there will be the exam again. The proposal to implement the old pension could not come to the cabinet meeting today. Cabinet Minister Jagannath Mahto said in this regard that this proposal will come in the next cabinet.

According to sources, more than 70 thousand policemen of the state have not even got approval to avail of compensation leave of 20 days. Health Minister Banna Gupta said that this proposal will also come in the next cabinet.
