Ranchi: The budget session of Jharkhand Assembly is starting from Friday. Before the budget session, the Assembly Speaker held an all-party meeting on Thursday, in which the House should function peacefully.

In the meeting, BJP said that the budget session is short, the budget session starting from 23rd February will continue till 2nd March only. There was a demand to extend the duration of the session.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahato. Chief Minister Champai Soren, Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri, Kamlesh Singh from NCP, Independent MLA Saryu Rai, Vinod Singh from CPI (ML), Lambodar Mahato from AJSU, Satyanand Bhokta from RJD and Pradeep Yadav from Congress participated in it.

There was a demand from opposition parties to extend the budget session. The opposition has said that this budget session may be the last session of the fifth assembly, but it is the first budget of the Champai Soren government in the state.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Amar Bauri said that if the Champai government does not agree to extend the session, then what the need for the budget session is. He said that even though the session in the Assembly will be short, public issues will be raised. The government will be cornered on issues of public interest. Preparations in this regard have been completed.

He asked why the Chief Minister had to resign. Issues like paper leak issue, land scam, para teacher will be raised in the House. Amar Bauri said that the new government is focusing on Abua housing. This government did not give importance to the Gram Sabha.

The role of Gram Sabha has been abolished. Lakhs of crores of rupees were spent to propagate this scheme. But, the money has not reached the beneficiaries’ accounts. Dummy checks were handed over to many people.
