Jamtara: Till Sunday evening seven more bodies have been recovered from the Barakar river following the boat tragedy which had taken place in Jamtara district of Jharkhand after which the overall count has reached eight.
The deceased have been identified as Binod Mohli, Abul Ansari, his wife Jubida Bibi, daughter Gulfasa Khatoon, son Ashraf Ansari, Tanvir Aalam and Halima Khatoon. On Saturday body of Sahela Khatoon was recovered from the water.
Following the incident which took place on Thursday evening, the NDRF and the locals are running search operations in the river.
However on Sunday also a huge crowd of the villagers remained on the banks of the river. To find out the missing area of four kilometres has been identified and in its radius, separate teams of the NDRF are conducting the search operations. The district administration and local police are having a tough time controlling the crowd.
On Thursday evening a boat overturned in Barbendiya-Veergaon Ghat. It was claimed initially that there were 20-25 people on the boat however till date no exact numbers have been determined. From the river, many motorcycles, bicycles, purse and slippers have been recovered and along with that the boat has been also recovered.
On the day of the incident, four people had managed to swim out of the river which means overall 12 people have been identified. Apart from the team of the local administration those from the health department are also camping on the spot. Many ambulances have been also stationed on the bank of the river.
