Ranchi: BJP state general secretary and MP Aditya Sahu on Wednesday reacted strongly to statements made by JMM general secretary Suprio Bhattacharya, accusing the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) of trying to turn the entire Santhal Pargana region into a version of West Bengal through appeasement politics. Sahu said that the Santhal community is now fully aware of JMM’s true nature and tactics. He claimed that JMM is desperate and frustrated due to its slipping political base and growing resentment against the state government.
Sahu questioned the JMM on whether the descendants of martyrs, on whose name government festivals are organized, are being respected. He criticised the current Hemant Soren government for what he called a “dictatorship” that allegedly uses lathi charges and tear gas against the descendants of martyrs, denying them the right to honour their ancestors.
He accused JMM of refusing to apologise for its wrongdoings and instead trying to justify the incidents. Calling the party mentally bankrupt, he even claimed that JMM views the descendants of martyr Sido Kanhu, such as Mandal Murmu, as mere pawns.
Sahu challenged JMM to disclose who is the producer or director behind the killings of Rameshwar Murmu, and who is responsible for the incidents involving tribal families in Gopinathpur and Gay Bathan. He further accused the party of facilitating land seizures by Bangladeshi Rohingya infiltrators and demanded to know under whose protection voter ID cards, ration cards, and Aadhaar cards are being issued to these infiltrators.
He also questioned who is behind the rising incidents of “Love Jihad” and “Land Jihad” in the region.
Referring to JMM leaders’ pride in stating that Mamata Banerjee’s government in Bengal denied permission to hold “Hul Day” celebrations, Sahu asked why JMM leaders remained silent while Jharkhand was allegedly insulted and why they never dared to speak against Mamata Banerjee.
Sahu reaffirmed that Jharkhand was formed by the BJP and stated that the party will not allow Jharkhand to be destroyed. He said BJP will guide the growing public outrage against the Hemant Soren government and warned that Santhal Pargana is not JMM’s private property.
