Archbishop should refrain from making unconstitutional statements on religious conversions: Deepak Prakash

Ranchi: State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash has asked Ranchi Archbishop Felix Toppo to avoid making unconstitutional statements over religious conversions.

He said that constitution of India provides everyone the freedom to profess practice and follow their religious believes but no one has the right to force others to change their religion by luring them or assuring perks.

He claimed that it is unfortunate that after the new government came into Jharkhand politics of appeasement started and pointed out that the Archbishop had problems with the anti-religious conversion law of the previous government.

Deepak Prakash said that if someone wants to change their religion then as per the laid procedure they should give an application to the DC and pointed out that there was no harm in informing the administration.

He went on to allege that the Archbishop has disrespected the democratic norms. Attacking the Congress party he said that it is the same party that went on to file an affidavit in the court raising questions over the existence of Lord Ram itself and despite numerous reports being carried out in the media religious conversions are openly happening in Jharkhand.

Moreover, these organizations which are involved in religious conversions get red when asked to show their financial records.
