Aim is more than 80 percent voting in upcoming general elections: K. Ravi Kumar

Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said on Wednesday appealed election-related officials to put their best efforts in Jharkhand be take the polling per centage above 80% in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Under the pre-determined programme, a two-day sequential training of all the AEROs associated with all the assembly constituencies of the state was started Wednesday under the aegis of the Cabinet (Elections) Department.

He said that the first thing that needs to be done to increase the voting percentage is to make the voter list error-free and register the missing voters. He said that all the officials should also publicize at their respective levels that only two conditions are necessary for voter registration: the person should be a citizen of India and be of 18 years of age.

Therefore, keep in mind that the work of registration of even a single new voter should not be hampered due to the lack of any other proof or document. He said that it should also be spread that apart from the Voter ID card, there are other documents prescribed as per the rules showing which the voters can cast their vote.

He said that positive use of social media will also have to be promoted to create awareness among voters. Along with giving necessary instructions to the officials coming from different areas of the state, he also took feedback from them.
