Sayantani Ghosh Shuts Down Pregnancy Rumours: ‘I Am a 41-Year-Old Married Non-Pregnant Woman’

Mumbai — Television actress Sayantani Ghosh has firmly dismissed ongoing rumours about her pregnancy, taking to social media to call out the speculation and the insensitivity behind it.

In a strongly worded post, Sayantani wrote, “I AM NOT PREGNANT!! In a recent interview, I was asked if I was pregnant?? And the reason for people to speculate this just blew my mind — because in recent times I have been seen wearing more loose and flowy clothes. Like, really, WHAT THE HELL?”

She added that it was ironic how society calls itself modern yet continues to judge women based on outdated assumptions. “There is so much noise around women’s empowerment, yet we hardly bat an eyelid before judging and reaching conclusions about women! WHAT AN IRONY,” she wrote.

Highlighting the emotional impact such rumours can create, she said, “Such a level of insensitivity is so sad and ridiculous! We might say things casually, but such low judgements can create mental havoc and push someone into self-doubt. We need to act more responsibly.”

Setting the record straight, Sayantani stated, “Here’s the truth — I am a 41-year-old married non-pregnant woman. I wear comfortable clothing because I prefer it that way. With age, my body has changed, and there is no shame about it! I looked a certain way in my 20s and 30s; now I look different — and I own it.”

She also addressed societal pressure regarding motherhood. “Yes, we often associate the idea of a biological clock with women, and I respect family expectations. But such an important decision should solely rest with the people concerned. Being a mother is beautiful, and I’m a godmother to lovely nieces and nephews — but beyond a point, we need to respect people’s privacy. Why can’t we just be and let be?”

The rumours began circulating after she appeared in public wearing loose clothing, prompting baseless speculation from netizens.

On the Work Front

Sayantani Ghosh is set to appear in Zee TV’s upcoming fiction drama Jagadhatri. Speaking earlier about her role, she said, “Playing Maya is both a privilege and a challenge. She is fierce, disciplined, and silently vulnerable.”

Despite recently fracturing her foot, the actress continued shooting with support from the production team. “They ensured all safety measures were in place — from wheelchairs to modified shots — so I have no strain on my foot. My co-actors and crew have been extremely considerate.”

She added that the encouragement from her team fuels her passion and dedication as an actor.

Jagadhatri follows the story of a young girl overlooked in her own home but unstoppable as a courageous undercover agent committed to fighting crime and reclaiming her identity.
