Ranchi: Seven people were injured after being hit by lightning in Latauli village of Torpa block of Khunti district. Everyone was attending a wedding ceremony in the village.
The injured included Veronica Dhan (50) of Siddu Karanj Toli of Binda, Abhishek Bodra (9) of Latauli village, Supreme Topno (10), Pascal Bodra (42), Roshni Horo (26), Dhanu Gudiya (35) and Digi of Bandgaon village. Matias Sandi Purti (55) is included.
According to Sources, the marriage ceremony of Matias Topno, son of Johan Topno, was going on in Latauli village. The wedding procession had come from Ranchi. Meanwhile, there was a thunderstorm, due to which the people present there got injured. After being injured, everyone was smeared with cow dung. After this the referral hospital was informed.
As soon as the information was received, the ambulance from the hospital reached the village and all the injured were brought to the hospital. His condition is said to be out of danger. JMM leader Sudeep Gudiya reached the referral hospital and met all the injured and inquired about them.
He also met the doctor and inquired about the condition of the injured. Dr. Sudeep, who treats people injured by lightning, said that cow dung should not be applied after being hit by lightning. It is often seen that after being hit by lightning, villagers apply cow dung paste on the injured. In such a situation, there is a fear of infection near the burning area.
