600 warders will be appointed in four central prisons of Jharkhand

Ranchi: To meet the shortage of wardens in the jails of Jharkhand, the process of reinstatement of ex-servicemen on contract has been started. 600 ex-servicemen will be appointed in four central jails of the state. Birsa Munda Central Jail Ranchi, Central Jail Dumka, Central Jail Hazaribagh and Central Jail Ghaghidih Jamshedpur are included. This appointment will be on contract basis for one year.

However, as per the requirement, the period of contract will be extended and on regular appointments, the service of ex-servicemen kept on contract will be terminated. A notification has been issued by the Home Prison Disaster Management Department regarding this. According to the notification issued by the Home Prison Disaster Management Department, ex-servicemen appointed on contract will be given an honorarium of Rs 20,000 per month.

There will be an increase of eight percent in the fixed honorarium every year after the service period. These workers hired on contract will be given only 20 days compensation leave in a year. During government duty, traveling allowance and daily allowance will be payable as per rules. The ex-gratia grant that is payable to the state police personnel in case of death while on duty, will also be payable to them, but there will be no provision for giving jobs to the dependents. Roommates were to be appointed on 624 posts in four jails of Jharkhand. Which was cancelled last month.

The Home Jail Management Department had issued an order regarding this. In the issued order, it was said that the process of appointment of ex-servicemen to the post of Warden was done on 624 posts in Birsa Munda Central Jail, Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan Central Jail, Dumka Central Jail and Ghaghidih Central Jail. But in consultation with the Home Affairs and Disaster Management Department and the Law Department and the order passed by the High Court in Case No. WP (C) No. 3894 Ramesh Hansda / Government of Jharkhand, the process of this contract was cancelled.
