54 Percent increase in sale of Khadi Products in Jharkhand in last one year – Khadi Board

Ranchi: A review meeting of Khadi and Village Industries activities was held with the Executive Officers and Heads of Khadi Buildings and Departmental Training Centers of the Eastern Region Commission.

Last October 2023, Khadi Mahotsav was celebrated from October 2 to October 31, 2023, under which ‘Mini Exhibition cum Sale Mahotsav’ was organized at 20 places in the four states of the Eastern Region of Khadi and Village Industries Commission, in which For the promotion of Khadi, programs like ‘Vocal for Local’, ‘Self-reliant India’, ‘Khadi Yatra’ and ‘Live Exhibition of Khadi Production’ were organized.

Along with this, various types of activities were organized by various schools, colleges and Khadi institutions in the four states, in which a total of more than 500 different programs were organized from the Gram Panchayat level to the Municipality level. 2.5-3 lakh people directly participated in these programs under Khadi Mahotsav.

In this financial year 2023-24, under the Village Industries Development Scheme, in November, December, 2023 and January, 2024, various activities in the four states of the Eastern Region of the Commission – beekeeping, textile craft, leather industry, palm gur, service industry. It was decided to complete the training and toolkit distribution work.

In the zonal review meeting, under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program, more than 50 percent of the targets have been achieved in the four states of the eastern region and the remaining targets were directed to be achieved by January-February 2024 of this financial year, and all The State Director agreed to this.

During the above review, the production of cotton Khadi and Silk Khadi under the Khadi Development Scheme was found to be satisfactory and the sales figures were found to be quite encouraging, especially in the month of October, 2023, there was unprecedented sales under Khadi.

Khadi sale cum exhibition fair will be organized in all the states of the eastern region in the coming months of November, December and January of this financial year 2023-24. Apart from this, the said fair will also be organized by Khadi Bhawan Kolkata. About 9000 people will be trained under about 10 types of trades through the departmental and non-departmental training centers of the Commission so that they can become self-reliant. There has been an increase in the sales of Khadi products in this financial year 2023-24 as compared to the last year 2022-23.

Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, so far 93 percent targets have been achieved in Bihar state, 54 percent in Jharkhand state, 52 percent in West Bengal and 64 percent in Orissa, which is much more than what was achieved till this month of last year.
