Ranchi: Principal Secretary of Road Construction Department, Sunil Kumar has said that in the last four years, under the guidance of the Chief Minister, the Road Construction Department and Building Construction Department have done better work in the entire state.
He said that along with completing the pending schemes, new schemes have been approved and the earlier schemes have been completed and handed over to the public.
He was giving information about the achievements of the department to the media in the auditorium of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations on Thursday.
The Principal Secretary said that in the last four years the department has spent 95 percent of the budget amount.
Even at present, 60 percent of the amount has been spent against the financial year 2023-24.
He informed that a total of 17 thousand kilometres of roads are to be constructed in the state, out of which 14 thousand kilometres of roads are being constructed.
In this, 2000 kilometres of road is being built through National Highway.
A total of 5200 kilometres of road construction has been completed by the state government. At the same time, construction of 4600 kilometres of road is going on.
He informed that 283 schemes are currently being run by the department.
Till now the construction of 398 big bridges and culverts has been completed by the department.
In the last four years, 525 schemes have been approved, the total distance of which is 6500 kilometres.
He said that many road schemes in the state are being implemented through NHAI.
Due to the positive initiative of the state government, work on road schemes worth Rs 40 thousand crore is being done in the state through NHAI.
An amount of Rs 2500 crore is being spent on the Bharatmala project.
Sunil Kumar said that along with rural areas of the state, roads in urban areas are also being developed.
Out of 10 parts of Ranchi’s Inner Ring Road, a total of three parts have been approved.
A DPR of 194 km long Outer Ring Road has been prepared.
Work is being done on the connectivity of the Ring Road and approval for many connecting roads has also been given.
Giving information about the flyover, he said that approval has been given to connect Kantatoli to Sirmatoli.
The process for the construction of Harmu flyover is also being completed.
Along with this, work is being done on flyover construction in many other cities also.
With the initiative of the state government, work is also being done on Expressway Corridor and Tourist Expressway Corridor in the state.
Apart from this, roads are also being built with the help of World Bank.
DPR of Karamtoli elevated road is almost ready.
Principal Secretary of the department, Sunil Kumar said that many buildings are being constructed by the Building Construction Department in the state and also outside the state.
The construction work of most of these buildings has been completed.
He said that in the state, there are 2 new medical colleges, 500 bedded hospital, community centre, critical care block, sub-divisional hospital, Bokaro Medical College, Engineering College, Polytechnic Degree College as well as various departments of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.
Construction work of tourist spots and cold storage of Agriculture Animal Husbandry Department is also being done.
For this, construction of buildings of various departments is also ensured by Bhavan Nirman Nigam Limited.
The department had spent more than 96 percent on building construction against the budget of Rs 603 crore in 2022-23.
In the current financial year, the department has spent 76 percent so far.
