5 girls and a boy from Jharkhand rescued from human trafficking in Delhi

Ranchi: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren the campaign to free the victims of human trafficking and rehabilitate them is taking shape. In this connection, five girls from Sahebganj district and a boy from Godda district, who were victims of human trafficking, have been freed in Delhi. At the same time, a woman from Dumka has also been scouted with them. This woman had come out of Dumka to go to her in-laws’ house last 4 months and had wandered to Delhi.

The Jharkhand government is sensitive on human trafficking. Women and Child Development Department, Government of Jharkhand is taking prompt action on the incidents of human trafficking. As a result of that, victims of human trafficking are being rescued as soon as possible. Nachiketa, the nodal officer of the Integrated Rehabilitation-cum- Resource Centre, informed that one of the rescued children, Seema Kumari (name changed) was brought to Delhi four times by her own brother-in-law and sold. The second girl Aarti Kumari (name changed) was handed over to the human trafficker by her family members. This girl has been tortured mentally and physically in various ways. At the same time, the rescued child was also sold by his uncle to Punjab.

A Dode, Director of Women and Child Development Department, has given strict instructions to all the districts that in whichever district the children will be rescued in Delhi, the District Social Welfare Officer and Child Protection Officer of that district will take the children to their native district. He said that now these children will be linked with various schemes of the Jharkhand government, so that these children do not become victims of human trafficking again.
