21.62 pc funds of planned expenditure spent till July 11: Khare

Ranchi, Jul 13: Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Finance Department Amit Khare said that during the fiscal yaer 2017-18 till July 11 a sum of Rs 13,276.86 crore had been spent which was 21.62 pc amount of the toal planned expenditure of Rs 61,421.95.

Comapred to the previous fiscals the expenditure was very high. In the year 2016-17 a total of Rs 5,389.36 crore had been spent which was 14.70 pc of total planned expenditure of Rs 36,673.91 crore.

He said that on July 10 a meeting of the chief secretaries and senior officials was organised by Niti Aayog in which it was said that economic growth rate of Jharkhand was very high and was among the four states which have recorded more than 8 pc of growth rate. Jharkhand had also seen a jump in tax collection, capital expenditure and the fiscal deficit has been kept below 3 pc. The state was also lauded for its performance in Ease of Doing Business Index and also in the area of agriculture reforms where it ranked 12th.

Mr Khare said that during the fiscal year 2017-18 the various departments have collected taxes till June worth Rs 2951.59 crore which was 10.39 pc of the total revenue target of Rs 28,409.16 crore. He said that compared to previous fiscal this year the tax collection has been up by 10.72 pc.

The development commissioner said that as per the recommendation of the 14th finance commission the share in taxes of the state government has been increased from 32 pc to 42 pc due to which compared to 2015-16 in 2016-17 has been jumped by 3,173 crore.
