Congress holds farmers meet against new Agriculture reform laws

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress committee on Saturday organised a meeting with the farmers during which the new Agriculture laws passed by the Centre were opposed by the party leaders.

The event was held at the residence of JPCC chief and Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon. Health Minister Banna Gupta said that the new laws were anti farmers. He said that the farmers of the country are scared and as a planned conspiracy attack was taking place on the farmers.

Banna Gupta said that jawans are being martyred on the borders while the traders are worried with the falling GDP but the Prime Minister is not speaking anything on these issues and was busy working non issue stuff. He said that a conspiracy has been hatched to make farmers bonded labourers which would not be tolerated.

Agriculture Minister Badal said that for the Congress party the farmers were not a vote bank but they were family members. He said that he himself was a son of a farmer and the party has always stood with the farmers of the country.

On the other hand, he said that for the BJP the farmers were also like market to them. He said that through the programme an attempt was being made to spread awareness so that those who have been given mandate by the people do not misuse it.  Badal said that Congress party would not allow the farmers to become labourers.
