Ranchi (IANS): Jailed former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD president Lalu Yadav on Wednesday have been shifted to residence of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS), Ranchi for safety from COVID-19.
Lalu Yadav was undergoing treatment at the paying ward of RIMS. The security guard and some medical staff looking after Lalu Yadav were found COVI-29 positive. To protect Lalu Yadav from COVID-19, it was decided to shift him to the residence of RIMS director’s official residence. He has been shifted at the direction of the jail administration.
It seems that the jail administration has given special benefits to Lalu Yadav. The two ex Ministers who are in jail in murder cases have also been found COVID-29 positive but they are kept along with 52 prisoners also found positive in Birsa Munda central jail.
The two former Ministers- Enos Ekka and Raja Peter have been found COVID -19 along with 52 other prisoners of Birsa Munda central jail Ranchi. Both ex Ministers are in jail in separate murder cases. All group works have been stopped in the Birsa Munda jail after 54 prisoners including two ex Ministers were found positive.
More than 450 patients have been found in the last 24 hours in the state taking the total number more than 14400 in the state.
As per the data provided by the health department the number of active cases in the state was 8,742. The total number of death caused by Coronavirus in the state stood at 129.
In the last 24 hours, 383 people were cured and discharged from various dedicated Covid-19 facilities including 112 from Giridih followed by 67 from Ranchi. 46 from Lohardaga, 44 each from Palamu and Ramgarh and 34 from East Singhbhum districts also defeated Coronavirus and returned back to their homes.
Due to the rampant rise in Coronavirus cases across the state the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has plummeted further to 36.95 percent in Jharkhand.
So far in the state 3,57,748 samples have been collected out of which 3,45,907 have been tested and 3,31,837 have turned out to be negative.
The data further pointed out that the number of travellers under surveillance and asymptomatic was at 5,596 while people who have completed 28 days of compulsory observation stood at 4,333. The number of people in facility quarantine was at 5,892 while those in home quarantine was 2,43,150.
