Security forces exchange bullets with youths inside forest in Latehar, one dead

Latehar: Security forces had exchanged bullets with a group of youths who had gone hunting inside Piri forest under Garu Police Station area of this district in which one of them was killed and another sustained injuries.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the ultras were involved in a gun battle with the security forces in which one of them had been killed.  The deceased has been identified as Brahmdeo Singh (24) while the injured was Deenanath Singh (25).

Briefing the press regarding what actually transpired inside the forest Latehar SP Prashant Anand said that separate teams of CRPF, Cobra and Jharkhand Jaguar were conducting search and combing operations inside the forest during which a team which was on a hilly terrain spotted a group of youth.

The youths suddenly opened fire which was retaliated back in which one of them was killed while five others were caught. The youths said that they had gone inside the forest for hunting when after seeing a wild animal they opened fire.

The SP said that Maoists are not involved in the incident as per the protocol further action is being taken.

Meanwhile, villagers said that a group of youth had gone inside the forest to hunt a wild boar or rabbits when the incident took place.
