Jharkhand Cabinet approves to increase salaries MLA and Ministers

Ranchi, Sep 19: The Jharkhand Government today decided to increase the salary of the Chief Minister from the present Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 while that of the MLAs has been moved up from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000.

A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das at the project building here. Later briefing the press regarding the decisions cabinet secretary SKG Rahate said that as per the decision it has been decided to increase the salary of the leader of the opposition from Rs 50,000 to Rs 65,000 while that of the Speaker would be Rs 78,000 which was earlier Rs 55,000.

He said that the Chief Whip of the assembly would be Rs 55,000 from Rs 35,000 while that of the deputy chief whip would be Rs 50,000. The whip would get an increased salary of Rs 45,000 from Rs 30,000 earlier. Further the cabinet has also decided to increase the allowances of the members of the house.

As per the decision the Chief Minister and the Speaker would be entitled for area allowance of Rs 80,000 while that for refreshments would be Rs 70,000. The Leader of the Opposition would get an area allowance of Rs 80,000 while his refreshment allowance would be Rs 45,000. The cabinet ministers have been kept in the same slab which is that of the Leader of Opposition. The MLAs would be given an area allowance of Rs 50,000 apart from other facilities.
