Zonal Commander of Maoists carrying reward of Rs 10 lakh surrenders before Palamu Police

Daltonganj, Nov 29: A zonal commander of the CPI (Maoists) who was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head surrendered before the Palamu Police alongwith a commander of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee.

In a function organised at the DIG office here TPC commander Ajay Prasad alias Roshan Ji surrendered before the police officials. 24 cases are registered against Roshan Ji including 14 in Palamu and 10 in Garhwa district. As per the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government he was given a cheque of Rs 50,000.

After him the zonal commander of the Maoists Enuael Khan alias Gobind Ji who was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head laid down his weapon. A total of 21 cases are registered against him including 14 in Palamu and 7 in Aurangabad district of Bihar. Sarwari Khatton who is the wife of the maoist was given a cheque of Rs 1 lakh by the police alongwith a cheque of Rs 10 lakh which was on his head.

Addressing the function Palamu Divisional Commissioner Rajeev Arun Ekka said congratulated the police department for ensuring that these men laid down their weapons. Palamu DIG Vipul Shukla said that the road of naxalism was full of darkness. He also called upon the youth who had joined the Maoists ranks to surrender and join the main stream of life and contribute in the development process of the state and the nation.

The DIG said that Khan was the first maoist of the central zone of the Maoists who had surrendered before the police. He said that any maoist who wanted to surrender can get in touch with the officials and they would be provided all the benefits as promised in the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government.

CRPF IG Shri Pal who was also present on the occasion said that the government was working for development of the villages but the Maoists are disturbing the development progress which was against development. He said that the government was committed to wipe out the Maoists from the state.

The event was also addressed by Palamu SC Amit Kumar, SP Inderjeet Mahtha and other senior police and administrative officials of the district.
