Women’s hockey qualifier match for Paris Olympics will be held in January, CM said – a matter of pride

Ranchi:  Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy is being organized in Ranchi from 27th October to 5th November. Five teams from the world will participate in this international match. After this international match, the capital Ranchi has got the responsibility of another international hockey match. Jharkhand is considering this match as an achievement.

The second international match will be the qualifier match of women’s hockey for the Paris Olympics. This match will be held at Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi from 13 to 19 January 2024. Along with India, seven national teams from all over the world will participate in the women’s hockey qualifier match for the Paris Olympics to be held in Ranchi from 13 to 19 January 2024.

The top three ranked teams among these teams will make their place in the Olympics to be held next year. Actually, the qualifier matches for the Olympics were to be held in China. It was going to happen in Changzhou city of China. But the Chinese women’s hockey team has secured direct qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics by winning the 19th Asian Games gold. For this reason, the International Hockey Federation has handed over the hosting to Hockey India. After which the qualifying matches will now be held in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.

CM Hemant Soren has said that Jharkhand getting to host one international hockey match one after the other is a matter of pride. Recently he had said that if the country forms a team for any game then there should be players from Jharkhand in it. Regarding the qualifier match for the Olympics, he said that it is an honor to welcome the global hockey fraternity in Jharkhand. We are ready to host some of the best Asian hockey teams in the times to come.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said that we at Hockey India are happy that FIH has supported India’s proposal to host the Women’s Olympic Qualifiers. This is a big event for our players. Meanwhile, Hockey India General Secretary Bholanath Singh said that FIH supporting India’s proposal to host the qualifiers in Ranchi highlights the growing influence of Indian hockey on the international stage.

An international match is going to be held from October 27 to November 5 at Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in the capital Ranchi. This match is the Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy. Teams from India, Japan, China, Korea, and Malaysia will participate in it. According to the information so far, the Indian team will reach Ranchi on Sunday for the Asian Women’s Champions Trophy.
