Ranchi: Giridih Police has arrested seven criminals with the help of Pratibimb portal. 16 mobile phones, 16 SIM cards, five ATMs, one bike and one car have been recovered from them. SP Deepak Kumar Sharma gave this information in a press conference at the police office in Paparwatand. SP said that a total of 155 cyber criminals have been arrested so far. Whereas Rs 14 lakh 37 thousand 310 cash has been recovered.
According to Sources, SP Deepak Sharma had received secret information that some cyber criminals are cheating common people by using fake SIMs in Gandey police station area. Based on this, the police team took action and arrested seven cyber criminals.
Among the arrested criminals, Laxman Mandal, Dinesh Mandal, Minesh Mandal, residents of Margodih in Gandey police station area, Balram Mandal and Prakash Mohli of Mirga in Narayanpur police station area of Jamtara district, Jageshwar Sao of Genro in Bengabad police station area and Manish Kumar, resident of Gadi.
The caught cyber criminals told the police that they make serial calls on random numbers, pretending to be fake officials of the electricity department and asking them to pay the outstanding electricity bills. Otherwise they scare you by saying that they will disconnect the electricity connection.
After that, they are tricked into sending a remote access app link, get it installed and commit an incident of cyber fraud. Besides, they also used to deceive people by posing as bank employees and cheat people by obtaining OTP and password.
