Winter Session of Jharkhand Assembly to Start Tomorrow; Speaker Seeks Orderly, Productive Discussions

Ranchi- The Winter Session of the Jharkhand Assembly is set to begin on Friday, and Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato convened an all-party meeting a day before the session.

He urged both the government and the opposition to cooperate and maintain discipline to ensure that the session runs smoothly and yields meaningful results. All parties agreed to extend full cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radha Krishna Kishore, Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, RJD’s Suresh Paswan, LJP-R’s Janardan Paswan, AJSU’s Nirmal Mahto and CPI-ML’s Arup Chatterjee.

The discussions highlighted the importance of maintaining decorum during debates, completing legislative work on time and taking the Question Hour seriously.

The five-day session, to be held from December 5 to 11, is expected to witness debates on major issues. The supplementary budget will be presented on December 8. The opposition plans to raise key public issues during the four-day Question Hour.

This session also marks one year of the Hemant Soren-led government. The BJP-led opposition is preparing to confront the government on allegations of halted development, corruption and inefficiency, outlined in a recently released “charge sheet”.

The ruling alliance of JMM and Congress intends to counter these accusations by presenting achievements across various sectors. Several significant bills are likely to be introduced.

While the government will share updates on development schemes in rural and urban areas, agriculture, health and education, the opposition is expected to raise concerns about law and order, unemployment, mining, corruption and recruitment.

Strong exchanges between the government and opposition benches are anticipated.
