Villagers, Workers Unite Against CCL Notice, Refuse to Vacate Saunda D

Bhurkunda (Ramgarh): Villagers and labour unions have come together in strong opposition to a notice issued by Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), declaring that they will not vacate the Saunda D area under any circumstances.

A joint meeting of the Saunda D Panchayat Bachao Sangharsh Samiti and regional trade unions from the Barka-Sayal area was held at the Saunda D Panchayat Bhavan on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by Mukhiya Upendra Sharma and conducted by secretary Sanjay Yadav. Participants strongly criticised the move by CCL management to issue eviction notices, calling it a threat to their rights and livelihood.

Speakers at the meeting said the issue is a fight for survival and dignity, and resolved to resist any attempt to displace residents from the area. It was unanimously decided that a large protest demonstration will be organised next month in front of the Barka-Sayal General Manager’s office to press for withdrawal of the notice.

Leaders warned that the agitation would be intensified if their demands are not met. The proposed protest is expected to see participation from affected villagers and multiple labour organisations across the region.

Several union representatives and local leaders, including Vindhyachal Bedia, Uday Kumar Singh, Vasudev Saw, Dashrath Karmi, Sanjay Verma, Ashok Sharma, Ashok Gupta, Indradev Paswan, Vinod Kumar, JPN Sinha, Ramakant Dubey, Azad Bhuiyan, Jagarnath Paswan, W Pandey, Sushil Kumar, Rajgiri Chaudhary, Naim Khan, Santosh Sharma, Umesh Saw, Sanjay Singh, Santosh Rajak, Praveen Nayak, Deepak Singh, Amresh Kumar, Arvind Ojha, Aftab Alam, Kaushal Singh, Udal Ram, Subodh Rajak, Ramvriksh Bhuiyan, Ram Pukar, Yogendra Manjhi, Sanjay Kumar, Vinod Sagar, and Harilal Sharma, among others, were present at the meeting.
