Ranchi: With the efforts of the Chief Minister. Hemant Soren, the victims of human trafficking are being freed and rehabilitated in their homes. In this episode, 09 girls from Sahebganj district of Jharkhand who were victims of human trafficking have been freed from Delhi. Jharkhand Government and Women and Child Development Department are very sensitive on human trafficking and believe in quick action. This is the reason why the Integrated Rehabilitation Resource Center is being run in Delhi.
Under which the victims of human trafficking, boys and girls, are freed and rehabilitated in their districts. Its toll free number is – 10582 which works 24×7. Nachiketa, the nodal officer of the center, was told that this center works under the supervision of Principal Resident Commissioner in Delhi, Mr. Mastram Meena and under the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Jharkhand.
The Center keeps a special watch on Delhi and its adjoining border areas. In this sequence, we got a big success this time and 09 children of Sahebganj district were rescued by us from the border area of Delhi (which is adjacent to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh respectively) with the help of Delhi Police. Let us inform that just last Friday, 02 children from Ranchi district and 02 children from Dhanbad district have been rehabilitated back to Jharkhand with the escort team led by the Child Protection Officer of Ranchi district.
As soon as the Sahebganj district administration came to know that their children were rescued in Delhi, taking prompt action on this issue, under the direction of District Social Welfare Officer – Mrs. Suman Gupta, a team was formed under the leadership of District Child Protection Officer – Poonam Kumari. After camping in Delhi for the last 04 days, this team is returning to Jharkhand by train today with 09 children. It was informed by District Child Protection Officer Poonam Kumari that all these children will be continuously monitored by linking them with various schemes of Jharkhand Government so that children do not become victims of human trafficking again.
It is worth noting that as per the instructions of Local Commissioner Mr. Mastram Meena, the Integrated Rehabilitationcum- Resource Center, New Delhi has been continuously visiting various children’s homes in Delhi, victims of human trafficking, misguided children, girls and women Action is being taken to send back. In this regard, constant coordination is being established with Delhi Police, Child Welfare Committee, New Delhi and the Child Welfare Committee of the bordering states, identifying and rescuing the victims of human trafficking. After that, work is being done to send the freed people safely to their home district, where they are being rehabilitated. The girls rescued in Delhi were brought through brokers.
Such touts are very active in Jharkhand who lure young girls to Delhi by luring them to live a good life in Delhi and sell them in various homes on the pretext of employing them. By which they get a hefty amount and the life of these girls is made worse than hell. Their parents also play an important role in sending girls to the clutches of touts. Many times it has been seen that girls come in the clutches of touts only with the consent of their parents and their relatives.
All the districts have been given strict instructions by the Director of the Women and Child Development Department that in whichever district the children are rescued in Delhi, the District Social Welfare Officer and Child Protection Officer of the district rehabilitate the boys and girls back to their district.
According to the instructions of the Government of Jharkhand, the children being sent to Jharkhand will be continuously monitored through their Village Child Protection Committee (VLCPC), connecting them with the welfare schemes sponsored, foster care, Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School run in the district, so that these children can be re-humanized. Human trafficking can be stopped in the state of Jharkhand and can be saved from being a victim of trafficking.
