UPA stages demonstration against ED’s ‘selective’ action

Ranchi: The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) staged a dharna near Raj Bhawan to protest against the ED notice to Jharkhand chief minister Heman Soren for questioning.

Though the number of Congress party and RJD members were limited in the dharna, it gave city residents an opportunity to see UPA workers together in the agitation against the ED action.

The ED started a probe into the scam which had taken place when the BJP was in power and Raghubar Das was a chief minister but now its direction changed and the probe agency has trained its gun toward the UPA leaders. We condemn this selective action,” Rajya Sabha member Mahua Maji participating in the protest programme said.

Executive president of Congress, Bandhu Tirkey, echoed Maji saying the probe agency is working under the direction of BJP, which is intentionally using the constitutional agency to settle its score with its rivals in political clashes. The BJP is trying to destabilize the democratically elected government, Tirkey said.
