Giridih: A team of the Railway Protection Force arrested two thieves along with jewellery worth Rs 86.40 lakh while they were traveling in the Kalka Mail to Howrah.
Following the information provided by the Delhi Police the RPF on Friday night made the arrest at the Hazaribagh Road Railway Station of this district.
RPF Inspector (incharge) of Hazaribagh Road Post Pankaj Kumar said that Friday night he had received a phone call from assistant commissioner of police Rohini who detailed him regarding the thieves who were fleeing to Howrah in the Kalka mail which was travelling through the state. Acting on the information the RPF personnel reached at the railway station and as soon as the Kalka Mail stopped they surrounded coach number A 2 and caught the two thieves who were on berth numbers 16 and 80.
Upon checking their bags gold weighing 1.800 grams, a mobile and dryfruits were recovered. From the platform itself through video calling that Delhi Police was made to identify the thieves. The cost of the recovered gold is worth around Rs 86.40 lakh. One of the arrested Pethu Sheikh said that two days earlier a total of eight people had broken inside a gold shop located near the bus stand at Rohini in New Delhi and had stolen the gold jewellery. He along with his brother Ahmad was going to his native place along with his share of the loot but was caught midway.
