Two Maoists killed in encounter with security forces at Kuchai

Saraikela: Two ultras were killed in an encounter between paramilitary forces and the proscribed CPI-Maoist squad which took place in a jungle located under the Kuchai police station area of this district. Apart from the bodies of the Maoists, the police and paramilitary forces seized several firearms and ammunition from the encounter spot.

The encounter took place in the Koya jungle along Baruda- Sorubera road under the Dalbhanga Outpost area at about 4.30 am The police have recovered two bodies which are yet to be identified except that the slain Maoists were the members of Analda’s squad of the CPI-Maoist. Superintendent of police, Anand Prakash confirmed about the two Maoists were killed in the encounter in a jungle in Kuchai. “We had an intelligence input that Analda’s squad was active in Kuchai.

On the basis of the information, we had started a special operation by the CRPF and its CoBRA battalions. Finally, the rebel squad was spotted in the Koya jungle, but soon afterward the paramilitary forces were rained with bullets by the rebel squad leading the paramilitary forces to retaliate resulting in the death of the maoists, the SP said.

The SP who rushed to the encounter site having got the information pointed out that more Maoists were suspected to have been injured in the firing by the paramilitary forces. He said that the encounter lasted for over an hour later the Maoists fled into the deeper reaches of the forest. During the post-encounter search operation, two bullet-ridden bodies of the maoists were found in the jungle.

The SP said that post the encounter the police and paramilitary forces conducted a combing operation in the entire Kuchai area which is considered to be a maoist stronghold area.
