IMD forecasts cloudy sky with few spells of rain in Jharkhand

Ranchi: IMD’s Ranchi weather office has issued a forecast of cloudy sky in most places across the state with few spells of rain or thundershowers activity.

Though the monsoon trough which has shifted close to the foothills of the Himalayas was yet to get restored, the weather office predicted light to moderate thundershowers activity due to patches of clouds and heavy moisture in the air.

The discomfort index continued to be high- beyond normal in most places. The maximum temperature also hovered two to three notches above normal for the last two days.

The highest maximum temperature of 36.9 degrees Celsius was recorded at Deoghar. Monsoon rain statistics revealed that against a normal of 807.1 mm, the state has so far received 594.8 mm, a deficit of 26 per cent.

September is the last monsoon month and weathermen are apprehensive that rainfall during this month will help in overcoming the deficit.
