Jamshedpur: In a significant crackdown on narcotics smuggling, a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended two alleged drug traffickers and seized 15 kilograms of ganja during a late-night operation at Tatanagar railway station on April 24.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior security officials from the Chakradharpur Division and Jamshedpur railway police. Acting on suspicion, the team detained two individuals and, upon a thorough search, recovered a large quantity of contraband valued at several lakhs of rupees.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Upendra Kumar (38) and Vinod Sao (55), both residents of Rajouli in Bihar’s Nawada district.
During preliminary interrogation, officials suspect their involvement in a larger organized drug trafficking network. However, further investigation is ongoing to establish the extent of these links.
The action was part of “Operation Narcos,” an ongoing drive by the RPF to curb the movement of narcotics through railway routes.
Following their arrest, both accused have been handed over to the Tatanagar railway police station for further legal proceedings. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying such operations to ensure a safer and crime-free railway network.
