Two day CSR Conclave commences at CCL

Ranchi: Coal India a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking is organising a two-day CSR Conclave 2023 at the headquarters of its Ranchi-based subsidiary the Central Coal Fields Ltd at Darbhanga house here.

The two-day conclave with the theme of Reengineering CSR is aimed at dwelling upon ideas which will help to shape the CSR policy for Coal India and it’s subsidiaries over the next decade. The event was virtually addressed by Union Coal Secretary Amrut Lal Meena who had joined from Delhi while Coal India Chairman Pramod Aggarwal joined from the Kolkata-based headquarters of the company. 

CCL CMD PM Prasad said that the event is being organised for the second time in which eminent speakers who are pioneers in the field of CSR are participating including former Coal Secretary Bhaskar Chatterjee who has framed CSR section 135 in the Companies Act.

He said that the event is being attended by representatives of all the eight subsidiaries of Coal India, private companies, academia, educational institutions and students. He said that the purpose behind this event is to discuss the roadmap of CSR over the next 10 years and how inclusively it can be done in 25 districts where CIL is involved in coal mining. 

He said that in Jharkhand the Central Coalfields is working in eight districts and 80 percent of the funds under CSR are being used within 25 kilometres of the concerned district while the remaining 80 percent is being used across other areas. The CMD said that under its CSR initiative in Jharkhand, the company is building a centralised kitchen in Ramgarh to provide food to 50,000 school children while a central Library will also be built in Ranchi.
