Ranchi: Various tribal organizations have come out on the road against Ranchi Master Plan 2037. The tribal organizations on Friday marched on foot in the form of a procession from Morhabadi and reached Ranchi Municipal Corporation and demonstrated there.
A delegation of tribal organizations met the Additional Corporation Commissioner and put forth their demands. The protesters demanded the repeal of the Ranchi Master Plan 2037, calling the Jharkhand Municipality Act 2011 illegal.
Tribal organizations say that under the Fifth Schedule area of the Constitution, where a law has not yet been made in Parliament to implement the system of urban bodies. The law has been made to implement the Panchayati Raj system only in rural areas. Therefore, all the municipal bodies of the scheduled area including the municipal corporation are illegal and unconstitutional.
It is proposed to include the rural areas governed by the Occupation Act of Ranchi district in the Ranchi Municipal Corporation area.
Under the Fifth Schedule, land cannot be acquired in the Scheduled Areas without the consent of the Gram Sabha but right now the consent of the gram sabhas of various moujas of Nagdi, Ranchi, Kanke, Ormanjhi, Angada blocks around Ranchi Municipal Corporation is being taken that in the name of development, the tribals would be devastated from the land to settle the outside population and destroy the community culture here.
A conspiracy is being hatched to do so and such examples have already been seen. The existence of villages of Ranchi- Basti Argora, Hinoo, Lalpur Gonda, Dibhih, Kadru, Siromtoli, etc is slowly dying out.
