On Tuesday, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph are likely at isolated places over southern and adjoining central districts, including Ramgarh, Bokaro, Ranchi, Gumla and Khunti.

On June 10, similar weather conditions are expected across most parts of the state, except the north-western and adjoining central districts of Koderma and Hazaribagh.

The weather activity is expected to intensify on June 11, with gusty winds of 50-60 kmph likely over north-eastern and adjoining central districts such as Dhanbad, Bokaro, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh and Ranchi.

The remaining parts of the state may experience thunderstorms, lightning and winds of 40-50 kmph.

Thunderstorm activity with gusty winds of 40-50 kmph is also likely at isolated places across the state on June 14.

According to the IMD, an upper-air cyclonic circulation persists over east Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

A trough at mean sea level extends from Punjab to Bihar through Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, while another trough runs from east Bihar to the coastal areas of Gangetic West Bengal at 1.5 km above mean sea level.

The Southwest Monsoon further advanced on Tuesday into the remaining parts of the northeastern states, the entire Sikkim region and parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

Weathermen at IMD’s Regional Met Centre in Alipore, Kolkata said conditions remain favourable for its further advance into West Bengal, Odisha and adjoining eastern regions during the next four to five days.

The expected spell of rain and thunderstorms is likely to provide relief from the prevailing heat and humid conditions across Jharkhand.
