Ranchi: Governor Ramesh Bais has directed to ensure a four percent reservation for different categories of persons with disabilities in the appointment of assistant professors in the state. He has asked the Jharkhand Public Service Commission to consider running a special recruitment drive for the differently-abled so that their backlog posts can be appointed.
Governor-cum-Chancellor of Jharkhand State Universities Ramesh Bais reviewed the efforts being made to solve various problems of universities at Raj Bhavan on Friday. Jharkhand Public Service Commission Chairperson Dr. Mary Neelima Kerketta, Dr Nitin Kulkarni, Principal Secretary to Governor, Rahul Kumar Purwar, Secretary, the Higher and Technical Education Department, Suraj Kumar, Director, Higher and Technical Education, and other officials of the department were present in the meeting.
The Governor said that there is an urgent need to speed up the process for development in the field of higher education in the state as delay in work is a hindrance in the development of the education world and the state.
During this, he expressed his displeasure while reviewing the reservation being given to disabled persons and the construction of statues for the years 2010 and 2018. He said that due to the non-construction of the statue till now, the process of appointment to various important posts of the university has been deprived for a long time.
At the same time, during the review of the reservation, Secretary Rahul Purwar said that according to the earlier provision, there was often a possibility of getting benefits to the same category of Divyang, which action is being taken to remove it.
The Governor said that if the candidate of any one category is not available in the mentioned category of the disabled, then the candidates of other categories of the disabled should be appointed so that the post does not remain vacant.
