The displaced people of 84 mouzas of Chandil Dam reached Raj Bhavan to fast

Ranchi:  The courage of the displaced people of 84 mouzas of Chandil Dam is breaking regarding their 10-point demands. Under the auspices of All Jharkhand Displaced Rights Forum, they have again reached Raj Bhavan to fast unto death. On Monday everyone reached Namkum railway station from Chandil. From there the Adhikar Padyatra was carried out till Raj Bhavan.

The displaced people have decided to hold an indefinite fast unto death near Zakir Hussain Park. On October 17, he had submitted a memorandum to Raj Bhavan. Earlier on October 3, these people had reached Raj Bhavan while marching from Chandil.

During the one-day protest, it was said by Raj Bhavan that after four days the Governor will listen to the problems of the displaced people. But even after 28 days, when no information was received, these displaced people again reached Raj Bhavan.

Forum President Rakesh Ranjan Mahato said that the displaced people of 116 villages of 84 Mauza of Chandil Dam were sitting on an indefinite strike for more than 122 days from June 16, 2023 in the old Superintendent’s office complex located at Chandil Dam.

But till now no positive initiative has been taken by the department and the government regarding the demands of the displaced people. Navodaya Jantantrik Party state president Madan Mahato said that the most important issue for Jharkhand is displacement policy. People here get displaced, but they do not get their compensation. The party wants a clear displacement policy and local policy to be made in Jharkhand. Also, a displacement commission should be formed.
