Tara Shahdev case: Ranjeet Kohli, Mushtaq Ahmed, Kaushal Rani found guilty, sentencing on Oct 5

Ranchi: A CBI court of Ranchi on Saturday convicted three people including Ranjit Kohli alias Rakibul in the conversion and torture case of Tara Sahdeo. Special judge PK Sharma court held Ranjit Kohli, Mushtaq Ahmed and
Kaushal Rani guilty in this case.

After hearing the arguments of both parties on September 23, the court had fixed the date of the verdict on September 30. All three accused were physically present in the court during the pronouncement of the verdict. Tara Shahdev reached the court with her husband at 2.45 pm. Earlier, Ranjeet Kohli alias Rakibul had reached the CBI court with his mother at 2.30 pm. The court will hear the point of punishment on October 5. 

On the orders of Jharkhand High Court, CBI took over this case in 2015. The hearing of this case has lasted for almost eight years. The charges were framed against the three accused on July 3, 2018. 26 witnesses have been presented by CBI. 

On September 26, written arguments were presented in the CBI court on behalf of the defense in the National Rifle Shooter Tara Shahdev harassment case. Ranjit Singh Kohli and Tara Shahdev were married on July 7, 2014. After marriage, Tara Shahdeo started facing harassment and assault by her husband Rakibul Hasan/Ranjeet Kohli. The police started an investigation after the cases of marriage by hiding religion, sexual harassment and torture for religious conversion came to light.

Later, on the orders of the Jharkhand High Court, CBI took over the case in 2015. Then the investigation started. After the completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the accused in the year 2018. On the orders of Jharkhand High Court, CBI took over this case in 2015. The ongoing debate in this matter has been completed. The testimony by CBI was completed on 25 February. After this, the court recorded the statement of the accused.

After recording the statement, the defense side testified in its own defence. The debate in the case continued after the testimony closed. Which was completed. Charges were framed against the three accused in the case on July 3, 2018. 26 witnesses have been presented by CBI.
