Suspended IAS Pooja Singhal to spend her Holi in jail, bail hearing now in April

Ranchi:  A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Friday on the bail application of suspended IAS Pooja Singhal, accused of money laundering. During the hearing, the court asked for how many days Pooja Singhal has been in judicial custody. Seeking answers on this point, the court has fixed April 29 for the next hearing. With this it has been decided that Pooja Singhal will spend Holi in jail only.

Pooja Singhal’s bail hearing was held in the division bench of Supreme Court judges Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Augustin George. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra argued on behalf of Pooja Singhal, while ASG (Assistant Solicitor General) SV Raju argued on behalf of ED.

On April 12 last year, suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal, accused of money laundering, surrendered in the special court of Ranchi ED. Since then he is in judicial custody in Birsa Munda Central Jail. ED had arrested Pooja Singhal on 11 May 2022 in the MGNREGA scam case in Khunti, Jharkhand. Her husband Abhishek Jha has got anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court.
