Ranchi: Pankaj Mishra, accused of acquiring immense wealth through illegal mining in Sahibganj district and money laundering of that money, has received a big blow from the Supreme Court.
His petition was heard in the bench of Supreme Court judges Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice SVN Bhatt.
During the hearing, the court refused to stay the order of the Jharkhand High Court in which a CBI investigation into illegal mining in Sahibganj was ordered.
The court will now hear this case on December 15.

This order of the High Court was challenged by Pankaj Mishra in the Supreme Court.
He had filed SLP (Special Leave Petition) in the Supreme Court through his advocate.
CM’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra was arrested by ED in July last year.
During the investigation, ED has also seized Rs 11.88 crore deposited in 37 bank accounts of Pankaj Mishra, Dahu Yadav and their associates.
Whereas ED had searched 19 places in Sahibganj, Barhet, Rajmahal, Mirza Chowki and Barharwa.
During this period many documents and cash worth Rs 5.34 crore were seized. Pankaj Mishra is currently in judicial custody.
The High Court has refused the ED Court to grant him bail.
