Ranchi: The special police officers on Wednesday decided to call off their strike.
At the residence of Drinking Water Minister Mithlesh Thakur, the SPOs called off their strike and decided to return back to their way. The Minister said that the service of the SPOs has been extended by two years. Further, a high-level committee would look into their demands and suggest future courses of action.
The SPOs said that they are with the state government as Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Minister Mithlesh Thakur have show positive inclination towards their issues and since two years extension has been given all of them would return back to their districts.
The 2,500 SPOs who were on a strike since September 12 said that for the next few weeks they would be watching every step of the state government.
Since Wednesday morning a delegation of the SPOs had come to the house of minister Mithlesh Thakur. The minister had said that the government has agreed on three main demands including service extension, increase in honorarium and providing weightage in police recruitment.
