Ranchi: Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs, Art, Culture, and Tourism, Sudivya Kumar, conducted an extensive inspection of various sports facilities in Ranchi on Thursday to assess the infrastructure and amenities being provided to athletes.
During his visit to the Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Morabadi, the minister reviewed preparations for the upcoming SAFF Athletics Championship 2025. He directed the concerned departments to ensure that all basic facilities and infrastructure at the stadium are reinforced and completed well in time. He also instructed the sports department to expedite the handover of the football ground from the Ranchi district administration so that development work can begin promptly.
Minister Sudivya Kumar reiterated the state government’s commitment under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren to elevate the standard of sports in Jharkhand. “Our government is determined to provide world-class training and resources to athletes. We want talented sportspersons from Jharkhand to excel at national and international levels and bring glory to the state and the country,” he said.
He also inspected the Morabadi Indoor Badminton Stadium and directed officials to prioritize and complete pending work in accordance with earlier instructions given by the chief minister. The minister visited the High Performance Centre run by the sports department, where he reviewed fitness equipment and other technical facilities. He interacted with athletes to understand their needs and concerns.
Additionally, Minister Kumar inspected the athletics stadium, indoor stadium, and badminton stadium located within the Khelgaon (sports village) complex. He held a review meeting with officials of the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS) and evaluated their work plans through a presentation.
Emphasizing the importance of timely completion, he directed that all renovation and development work related to athlete training and infrastructure at the Khelgaon complex be expedited. He stated that the sports village should be developed to a level where it is fully capable of hosting national and international competitions in the future.
Several senior officials from the relevant departments were present during the minister’s inspection tour.
