Ranchi: Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested suspected ISIS terrorist Shahnawaz alias Shafi and his two associates Mohammad Rizwan Ashraf and Mohammad Arshad Warsi. NIA was looking for Shahnawaz for a long time, a reward of Rs 3 lakh was also announced on him.
Shahnawaz is originally a resident of Pelawal in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. Shahnawaz married a woman named Basanti Patel, a resident of Gujarat. After marriage, he got his wife converted and her name was changed to Maryam.
The conspiracy of Shahnawaz and his fellow terrorists was to terrorize North India. Not only this, these terrorists had also practiced bomb blasts in the forests of Pune. Earlier on July 18, IB, NIA and Delhi Police had arrested ISIS terrorist Faizan in a joint raid in Lohardaga.
Terrorist Shahnawaz is an engineer by profession. Police have recovered objectionable items from Shahnawaz and his associates. He was arrested by Pune Police while attempting to steal a motorcycle. Investigation revealed that he was in contact with terrorists. The ISIS module is accused of being linked to terrorist activities. Apart from bomb making material, chemical substances have also been recovered from the terrorist.
