Dhanbad, Sep 19: In a major crack down against corruption the Anti Corruption Bureau in the state today arrested five government officials red handed including the Block Development Officers of Baghmara and Nawadih while they were accepting bribe.
ACB officials here said that Baghmara BDO Girijanand Kisku was arrested while he was accepting bribe of Rs 50,000. A complaint against him was registered by a person Rajeshwar Munshi. After verification of the complaint the ACB laid a trap and arrested the BDO from his home while he was accepting the bribe red handed.
ACB SP Dhanbad Sudarshan Mandal said that the complainant in his complaint had said that he had constructed seven handpumps in Daludih gram panchayat under the 14th finance commission. However the man was yet to get the pending payment worth Rs 2 lakh and the BDO had demanded the bribe to release the payment.
Mr Mandal said that in a separate case the BDO of Nawadih block of Bokaro district Arun Oraon and his driver Kalim Ansari were arrested while they were taking a bribe of Rs 35,000. The duo were taking abribe from the block assistant Santosh Kumar who was not present in the job due to illness. The BDO had demanded the bribe to settle the salary related issue.
The ACB later presented both the BDOs and the driver before a special court which forwarded them to judicial custody. On the other hand ACB sleuths in Hazaribagh arrested a panchayat sevak Gokul Mehta from Barhi. Mehta was arrested taking the bribe for handing over the panchayat building of Karso panchayat.
In separate case the call operator posted at Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital was caught taking bribe of Rs 4,200 by the ACB. In another incident the ACB team in Dumk arrested the clerk Rajeev Singh who was posted in health department in Deoghar.
