Jharkhand CM flags off educational tour programme for school children

Ranchi, Sep 18: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that for the mental development of the students apart from studies, sports and other allied activities including tours and excursions are also important.

Flagging off a special train carrying school children on education tour under the Chief Minister Education Tour Programme he said that students studying in private schools do manage to travel outside the state however the students studying in government schools who belong to poor families are never presented this opportunity.

He said that for the children it is important that they get to know their country and said that the teachers who are going in the tour would apprise the children regarding the history, culture of the cities and the architecture style of the ancient monuments.

He said that the flag off marked the launch of the scheme under which the children would not only get to know the culture of other state but would also help them to gain knowledge. Mr Das said that the world was rapidly changing therefore children of Jharkhand also needed to move with time and an effort in this regard is being made by the state government.

He said that tour programme like these would help instil self belief among the students  and also improve their personality. He said that the government has the intention that the children get a change in their thought process and increase their knowledge. Mr Das said that when the thinking of the children would change than they would able to make more contribution in the development of the state.

He asked the teachers accompanying the students to play the role of their guardian and guide the children. Under the scheme the first train carrying 900 children and 50 teachers left for Delhi and Agra. The government has also made arrangements for their accommodation and would also provide security to the students.

Those present on the occasion included HRD Secretary Aradhana Patnaik, State Project Projector B Muthukumar, DRM V K Gupta and others.
