Should not be shortage of vehicles for election work – CEO K. Ravi Kumar

Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has said that after the withdrawal of nominations for the fifth phase of elections, 54 candidates are left in the fray. On the last day of withdrawal of nominations, a candidate from Chatra Lok Sabha constituency withdrew his name. There are now a total of 22 candidates in the election fray.

Two candidates have withdrawn from the election contest from Koderma Lok Sabha constituency. Now the victory or defeat will be decided here among 15 candidates. Whereas no candidate has withdrawn his nomination from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency.

A total of 17 candidates are in the fray here. Even in the Gandey Assembly by-election, no candidate withdrew his candidature on the last day of withdrawal of nominations. A total of 11 candidates are in the election fray from here. So far 118 candidates have filed nominations for the sixth phase of elections.

In this, 25 candidates have filed their nominations from Giridih Lok Sabha constituency, 28 from Dhanbad, 33 from Ranchi and 32 from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency. The Chief Electoral Officer was holding a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhruva on Monday. He said that since the notification of elections, goods and cash worth more than Rs 74 crore 38 lakh have been seized in Jharkhand. In response to a question, he said that there is no shortage of vehicles for election work. Vehicles are easily available as per requirement.

He said that the interest of the vehicle owners is also being kept in mind while taking vehicles for election work. The arrangement has been made such that a vehicle which has been marked for pickup in one district will not be marked in another district. Digital arrangements have also been made to ensure that vehicle owners get their vehicle fares on time.

The Chief Electoral Officer appealed and said that under the SVEEP program in the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, all voters should post content related to the Lok Sabha elections with the hashtag Main Bhi Election Ambassador on social media handles between 6 pm to 8 pm on 7th May 2024.

He asked everyone to post good photos, videos, texts etc. related to the elections. He has also appealed to the social media influencers to become a part of this special campaign and post the above hashtag on their social media.
