Schools will remain closed in Jharkhand till June 17, 9 and 10 classes to resume for three hours

Ranchi: Due to the scorching heat, schools in Jharkhand are to remain closed till June 17. The classes of the ninth and tenth standards will resume on Thursday for three hours. The department has issued an order in this regard, stating that now the schools will remain closed till June 17.

The schools were scheduled to open in June but due to heat waves and above 40 degree Celsius temperature, the state got had issued an order to close schools till June 14.

The department has taken this decision in view of excessive heat and heat waves. All schools from KG to class 8 have been closed till June 17, while students from classes 9 to 12 will have to attend classes from June 15. Classes will go for three hours from 9 am to noon.

The letter issued by the department, it is clearly written that this decision has been taken in view of excessive heat and the increasing danger of heat waves in the state. During this, a decision will also be taken on how the children will be compensated for the loss of syllabus and education.

The order to close the schools till June 14 was given by Education Secretary K Ravi Kumar as per directions of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. This order was issued on 11 June. In the issued order, the secretary said that keeping in view the extreme heat and heat wave in the state, all categories of government, nongovernment aided/unaided (including minority) and all private schools operating in the state will remain closed from June 12.

At present the schools have been closed till June 14. The Secretary has said in his previous order that a separate decision will be taken and informed regarding the compensation for the loss in the education of the children during this period.
