Mumbai: Actress Sanya Malhotra is brimming with excitement as she prepares to perform on the Filmfare stage for the very first time at the upcoming 70th Filmfare Awards South.
The 70th edition of the Filmfare Awards South, presented in association with Kerala Tourism, is set to celebrate excellence in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada cinema. The grand ceremony will take place in Kochi and promises a memorable evening filled with spectacular performances.
Sharing the spotlight with Sanya will be performers such as Nidhhi Agerwal, Pranitha Subhash, Aparna Balamurali and Trisha Shetty. Hosting duties for the night will be handled by Vishnu Warrier, RJ Mithun and Ranjini Haridas.
Expressing her joy, Sanya said, “Performing at the 70th Filmfare Awards South is incredibly special for me, especially because it’s my first-ever performance on a Filmfare stage. Celebrating the brilliance of South Indian cinema makes it even more meaningful. I’m truly excited to be in Kochi and can’t wait for what promises to be an unforgettable night.”
On the work front, Sanya will next be seen in filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film Bandar, where she will share screen space with Bobby Deol for the first time. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 and is backed by producer Nikhil Dwivedi under his banner Saffron Magicworks.
Inspired by real-life events and written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, Bandar revolves around Samar, an ageing television star battling to retain his fame. The film is expected to hit theatres on May 22, 2026.
