RS Polls: Mahua Maji and Aditya Sahu get elected unopposed

Ranchi: JMM nominee Mahua Maji and BJP’s Aditya Sahu were declared elected unopposed for the two seats of Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand. After getting the permission of the Election Commission, the secretary-in-charge of the assembly and the election officer Javed Haider announced the victory of both.

For the fourth time in 22 years, there has been an unopposed election to the Rajya Sabha in Jharkhand. Only two candidates had filed their nominations for two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand. After completing the scrutiny of the nomination papers of both the candidates, the information was sent to the Election Commission.

After this, it was announced that both of them have been elected unopposed. This is the fourth time in 22 years since the formation of the state when the candidates for Rajya Sabha were elected unopposed.

The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had nominated Mahua Maji as a Rajya Sabha candidate. Chief Minister and JMM working president Hemant Soren had announced the name of JMM leader and litterateur Mahua Maji. Mahua Maji said that she will try to live up to the expectations of the party. She will become the voice of Jharkhand in the House.

The BJP had nominated Aditya Sahu as the Rajya Sabha candidate. He said that he has been a ground worker of the party and showing solidarity both BJP and AJSU have nominated an ordinary worker for which is very grateful.

He said that he is a simple worker of the party and by making him a candidate, a message has been sent among the workers that any worker can go to any
post in the BJP.
