Ranchi: The remand period of former state CM Hemant Soren, who is in jail on land scam charges, started from Saturday.
Amidst tight security arrangements, Hemant Soren was taken from Hotwar Jail to the ED office on Airport Road with the ED team.
CRPF and District Force personnel have also been deployed for the security of Hemant Soren.
ED had arrested Hemant Soren on the night of 31 January.
After his arrest, on February 1, ED presented Hemant Soren in the PMLA court.
After hearing the case, the court gave its verdict on February 2.
The court has sent Hemant Soren on ED remand for five days from February 3.
ED will take custody of Hemant Soren, lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail Hotwar, on Saturday.
After five days of interrogation, Hemant Soren will be produced again in the court.
During the police remand, instructions have been given to keep a medical checkup done for Hemant Soren.
There is also an instruction not to do any kind of physical and mental torture.
During interrogation, Hemant Soren has been allowed to meet his family members and his lawyer.
The duration of the meeting will be 30 minutes.
