Religious spot vandalised in Ranchi, culprit arrested

Ranchi: The situation on the main road of the state capital became tense on Wednesday morning after it emerged that a statue of Lord Hanuman placed inside a temple at Malahha Toli had been damaged. As the news spread soon a large number of people started gathering on the spot. Ranchi MLA CP Singh also reached on the spot and condemned the incident.

However, before the incident could snowball into a major controversy Ranchi Police acted promptly and managed to arrest the culprit who was a mentally disturbed man. Police claimed that the man whose identity had not been revealed had done some similar incidents in the past also.

Post the incident heavy deployment of the police force was made in the area. Ranchi SSP Kishore Kaushal said that a person has been arrested for allegedly vandalizing an idol in the temple. He said that adequate police forces have been deployed in various areas.

The SSP said that police have got the CCTV footage and the whole matter was being investigated. At the same time, after the incident, many well-known people also reached the spot and took stock of the situation. 

Durga Puja is celebrated everywhere in the state and Pandals are being constructed everywhere. A pandal is also being constructed just a short distance away from the place where it was vandalised but none of the people were aware of when the incident took place.
