Ranchi: Jharkhand is set to showcase its rich tribal heritage on a grand stage as the state prepares to host the two-day Jharkhand Tribal Festival 2026 in Ranchi this August. Planned at Morabadi Ground or another large venue, the event aims to promote the state’s tribal culture, art, history and traditions to audiences across India and abroad through a blend of cultural celebrations and cutting-edge technology.
One of the biggest highlights of the festival will be a synchronized aerial performance featuring more than 700 drones. The nearly 20-minute show will combine music and voice narration to depict the lives and contributions of Jharkhand’s legendary tribal heroes through stunning formations in the night sky. An eco-friendly green fireworks display will follow, adding to the visual spectacle.
To engage younger audiences, the festival will feature a 40-foot immersive digital tunnel, interactive floor projections, a state-of-the-art 5D immersive theatre and an AI-powered 3D chatbot. The chatbot will provide visitors with information about Jharkhand’s tribal heritage, tourist destinations and festival activities in multiple languages.
A digital tribute wall dedicated to ‘Dishom Guru’ Shibu Soren will also be installed, allowing visitors to offer virtual floral tributes. Organisers are also planning an online tribute portal to enable people from across the country to pay their respects.
Another major attraction will be a five-kilometre-long cultural parade through Ranchi. The procession will feature elaborate tribal-themed tableaux, performances by folk artists and streets decorated with traditional artwork, offering visitors a vibrant glimpse of the state’s cultural diversity.
The festival will also include a large Tribal Haat with more than 100 stalls, showcasing handicrafts, handloom products and traditional crafts. Visitors can also enjoy a tribal fashion show, performances by over 500 folk artists from India and abroad, a rock band night, a digital gallery on freedom fighters, a tribal film festival and a live podcast studio.
According to the organisers, the event is expected to become a landmark celebration that strengthens Jharkhand’s cultural identity while promoting its tribal heritage and tourism on the global stage.
