JPSC Civil Services PT Result Sparks Protest, Aspirants Seek Transparent Investigation

Ranchi: The preliminary examination (PT) results of the 14th Combined Civil Services Examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) triggered protests in Ranchi on Tuesday, with a large number of aspirants alleging irregularities in the recruitment process and demanding an independent investigation.

Under the banner of the AJSU Students’ Union, candidates marched from Bapu Vatika to the JPSC headquarters, where they staged a demonstration and called for the cancellation of the results. The protesters urged the commission to ensure transparency and sought a comprehensive probe into the entire selection process.

The agitating candidates questioned the manner in which the results were announced, claiming that their late-night publication had raised doubts among aspirants. They also alleged that the result document lacked the signature of an authorised official and pointed out that the commission had not released the cut-off marks.

The protesters further demanded that CCTV footage from the JPSC office on the night the results were declared be examined to rule out any irregularities.

They also referred to an OMR sheet that has been widely circulated on social media. According to the candidates, the document suggests that one candidate secured full marks in one paper and an exceptionally high score in another. They demanded verification of the document’s authenticity and alleged that some candidates from outside Jharkhand may have received unfair advantage, while local aspirants were allegedly sidelined.

Questioning the commission’s functioning, the protesters said the examination’s answer key had been revised four times, which, in their view, had weakened confidence in the recruitment process. They also alleged that prescribed procedures were not properly followed while declaring the results.

Security was tightened around the JPSC headquarters, with heavy police deployment to maintain law and order during the protest.

The agitating candidates warned that they would intensify their movement if their demands remained unaddressed. They threatened to block traffic on major routes between Lalpur Chowk and Ratu Road as part of the next phase of their protest.

Appealing to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the aspirants sought a high-level inquiry into the examination results and the overall recruitment process. They also demanded that the commission publicly disclose the cut-off marks and other relevant details and take strict action if any irregularities are established.
