Ranchi Police Announces Strict Measures Against Traffic Rule Violators

Ranchi: The Ranchi Traffic Police has decided to intensify action against people violating traffic rules in a bid to improve road discipline and ease congestion across the city. A high-level meeting chaired by the Traffic SP was held on Wednesday, attended by traffic DSPs, station in-charges, and other senior officials.

During the meeting, officials discussed the growing traffic challenges in the capital and issued fresh directions for stricter enforcement. Police have been asked to take firm action under the Motor Vehicles Act against vehicles using black films, fancy number plates, modified silencers, pressure horns, and those involved in rash or drunk driving.

Special drives will also be conducted against overcrowded vehicles and minors caught driving. Authorities said such violations are becoming a serious safety concern in the city.

The traffic department has also made it mandatory for auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw (toto) drivers to wear uniforms while operating their vehicles.

Officials further noted that vehicles parked in “left free” lanes are causing unnecessary traffic jams at several intersections. Police teams have been directed to remove such vehicles and take action against the owners.

Traffic station in-charges have been instructed to maintain extra vigilance near schools during opening and closing hours and to keep major junctions free from illegal parking.

The Traffic SP emphasised strict compliance with the new directives to ensure smoother and safer traffic movement in Ranchi.
